The C638 is one of the many strange collections of roads around Dungannon that form a single class III route. The road starts in Dungannon itself, following Bush Road from where it turns off of Killyman Road (B34). As its street name would suggest the road soon enough reaches The Bush. At the crossroads where the B106 continues south and east, the road turns to the north where it crosses the A45. Continuing north, the road passes through Newmills where two branches of the route turn off. The first branch turns off to the west before turning south back to the A45 at Cullion Lough. A further branch links to the A29 from the lough. The second branch at Newmills turns off to the east before turning south east into Coalisland, meeting the B520 at The Square. The remainder of the route meanders its way north through the countryside across the B160 before eventually terminating on the B520 at Tullaghoge, south of Cookstown.
