The C68 starts in the centre of Haddington as the eastbound part of the town centre one-way system along Market Street, the westbound section being the A6093. It then crosses the A6093 and the River Tyne on Victoria Bridge, turning south east on Whittinghame Drive as it meanders out of town. As it runs past the golf course, it takes the second right and crosses the Bearford Burn. Continuing south east, the road climbs through a low pass between small hills and then drops down to Papple Bridge on the B6370.
