For other roads numbered C73, see C73.
The C73 is split into two parts by Moray Council, the C73L and C73H. This is because the council boundary cuts the road into two sections, with Aberdeenshire Council responsible for the bit in the middle - the C100S (Aberdeenshire), even though it is not connected to any other part of their network.
C73L
The C73L starts on the A97 at the Bridge of Marnoch and heads west across the hillside above the River Deveron. As the river turns south, so too does the C73L, coming to an end at the council boundary just beyond Garronhaugh.
C73H
The C73H picks up the route when it crosses back in Moray, and continues to follow the river west, steadily dropping down the hill to cross the river and enter Milltown of Rothiemay, where it comes to an end on the B9118. There is also a very short spur, which runs to the council boundary on the south side of the river.
