The C87S starts on the A96 at Fordmouth, below the Hill of Skares, and heads north west, following the burn up the narrow valley. It keeps left at Millburn, curving to the west of Broom Hill. Now running northwards, it steadily drops down the hill, before following the contours as it follows the Burn of Frendraught to the B9001 at Placemill.
