The C8H starts on the A941 at Bridgend and then turns north east to follow the west bank of the River Deveron up to the council boundary. There is also a short detached section at Haugh of Glass, which is inaccessible by road from elsewhere in Moray. The intervening stretch is the C116S (Aberdeenshire).
