This article is about the Class III road numbered C9 maintained by West Lothian Council.
For other roads numbered C9, see C9.
For other roads numbered C9, see C9.
The C9 starts on the A89 to the west of Dechmont and heads north west, before quickly turning west as it passes the former hospital grounds. It climbs gently up the hill through the scattered settlement of Drumcross, before dropping steeply at times into Bathgate as Drumcross Road to reach the B792, Torphichen Street.
This much is clear. However, based on the fragmentary evidence from the council Website, there appears to be more to the C9. Its total distance is listed as 10.5km or about 6.5 miles, so double that outlined above. At the western end, it seems probable that Hopetoun Street and North Bridge Street leading to the A89 in the town centre are also included, but that is less than half a mile. The other 3 miles remain uncertain.
