Cabot Circus is a signal controlled junction on the Bristol inner ring road.
When the new Cabot Circus shopping centre was built to extend and improve Bristol city centre, it involved the realignment of the inner ring road, which was deflected northeastwards. A substantial kink was added to the A4044, Bond Street South, to meet Newfoundland Street (the A4032) further east. The already short A4032 was therefore made even shorter as it links up to the M32.
The end result of all of this is that what was once a relatively easy to navigate traffic light controlled fork, with priority seemingly given to the inner ring road is now confused by additional turning lanes into side streets and a mass of different coloured tarmac threading its way between traffic islands. Simple for those familiar with it, but daunting to others. In addition, priority now seems to have been given to the primary route which runs from the A4032 south onto the A4044 towards Temple Meads.
