There are a number of prehistoric (or Pre-Roman) paths and tracks in the British Isles, with a variety of different building methods. Perhaps the most famous is The Ridgeway across southern England, but possibly of more interest are the many timber causeways and tracks constructed across the wetlands of the fens and Somerset Levels, such as the Sweet Track in Somerset.
