The Chester Road Junction is a stretched signalised roundabout. It was constructed as part of the new A555 Manchester Airport East Link Road, and opened with the link road in 2018.
Initially, it provided access to Chester Road, but has been constructed to allow a tie in with a future Poynton bypass. This gives it an elongated mini-sausage like shape; and it has been referred to as a "sausage-about".
