|Junctions related to the A2700|
It is the only GSJ between Shoreham and Chichester, which are 20 miles apart. however it does have the A280 Primary route connecting from the North to justify it being a larger junction than the rest.
As well as the junction connecting the A27 to the A280, it also provides access to the old alignment of the A27 and Titnore Lane. Titnore Lane is an important road carrying traffic to West Worthing and the A259. Some signs regard this lane as the A2700, which is its recently allocated number but it isn't up to A grade standards yet so it hasn't adopted its number yet.
The Arundel Road that runs west from here is pretty much on its original alignment (allowing for the fact it would have changed slightly to meet the new roundabout), making it clear why the road needed to be upgraded. The road to the east was an early section to become a dual carriageway.
