Copdock is a major junction on both the A12 and A14 near Ipswich. It is junction 33 on the A12 and junction 55 on the A14. The A1214 is also present at this junction, and is one of the main routes into Ipswich, linking up with the original A12 north of the junction.
For the A14, it is a standard grade separated roundabout interchange, while the A12 & A1214 are at-grade. The E24 (and formerly the E28) from the Midlands ends on the E30 from London here.
Services
There used to be a motorway-style service area to the north of the junction, owned by Welcome Break and known as Copdock services. It was sold off in the mid-'90s as it was making no money and a Tesco superstore had opened up next to it.
Improvements
In October 2021, consultation was opened on improvements to the interchange[1], offering two options:
- Option 1 - Improvements to the existing roundabout to provide bypass lanes
- Option 4 - Free flow links between the A12 and A14 East (and vice versa)
