The small village of Cornhill lies clustered around the crossroads where the main A95 Keith to Banff road is crossed by the B9023, Aberchirder to Portsoy route. The crossroads lies towards the western end of the village, and is a fairly simple junction hemmed in by property. Indeed, the house (the former Gordon Arms Inn) in the north east corner of the junction sits so close to the edge of the road that the northern arm of the B9023 has a Stop line to minimise the risk of accidents.
