The Cross Tay Link Road is a long term objective of Perth and Kinross Council to provide a third crossing point of the River Tay to the north of Perth. The road will start at a new junction on the A9 to the north of the Inveralmond Roundabout. This junction will be a folded dumbbell interchange, with the sliproads on the south side of the junction. The road to the west is the proposed Springfield Link Road.

The Cross Tay route will then cross the Tay on a new bridge - early plans suggest either a single mast cable stay design, or a more conventional concrete arched structure. After crossing fields, it will meet Stormontfield Road to the north of Scone Palace at a new Stormontfield Roundabout, then curve around woodland to meet the A93 at a second roundabout. The third roundabout will be the Highfield Roundabout, to serve a new development planned for the north of Scone, and then the route will terminate a short distance further east on the A94 at the final planned roundabout.

The route is planned to relieve traffic in Perth city centre, by providing a more direct route to the A9, rather than having to pass through the city. It is currently phase 2 of the Perth Transport Futures Project, ahead of the Springfield Link Road which is phase 3. However, the high cost of the new A9 junction (on a new alignment) and the bridge over the river could see the project delayed indefinitely. Whilst theoretically possible that parts of the east end of the route may be progressed as part of the expansion of Scone, it is unlikely that this would provide any strategic benefit. Despite this, site inverstiagtion work was being carried out in early 2018.
