Formerly Junction 3, Daldowie Interchange was renumbered as Junction 3A of the M74 when the Glasgow extension was built. It is a complex junction, intertwined with Maryville Interchange a short distance to the east, where the M73 ends on the M74. The basic layout of the junction is a Diamond interchange, with each of the crossroads signalised. The road leading away to the south serves Daldowie Crematorium and a large industrial site on the banks of the Clyde, while that to the north leads to the Black Bear Roundabout, where the A74 and A721 meet. The two west facing slips connect directly with the M74, while the east facing onslip connects to the M73. The east facing offslip managed to gather traffic from both motorways, thanks to a connection across the Maryville Interchange from the M74 offslip on the far side. Traffic wishing to join the M74 south/east bound must follow the A721 under the M73 to an uncontrolled at-grade right turn onto the motorway, although this too joins the sliproad from the M73.
Black Bear Roundabout
Lying immediately to the north of the motorway junction, joining three dual carriageways and a minor road. The A74 heads west into the city centre, while the A721 follows the former A74 route east to Uddingston. This section was renumbered at around the same time that the M74 was completed, and at the time led to suggestions that the whole of the A74 was to be renumbered as an extension of the A721, but in the event this did not happen. The road to the south leads directly to the motorway junction, and is variously labelled as the A721 or A74 on maps, but signed as neither. To the north, a single carriageway winds into a housing estate. There are no lane gains on the approaches, and the citybound A74 soon reduces to a single carriageway, meaning that it has been hatched down to a single departure lane.
