The Dover - Calais ferry is one of the busiest crossings in the world. As of 2018 there were at least eight passenger/freight ro-ro vessels in continous scheduled service on the route (running around 38 crossings per day). The route is operated by P&O ferries and DFDS and crossing time is just under 1h30m.
In 2021, Irish Ferries commenced a service on the route, using the Isle of Inishmore.
