The Eagles Junction is a grade separated roundabout which opened as part of Caernarfon's inner ring road in 1981. At the time it connected the A4086 with the A487, moving the latte out of the historic centre of this small Welsh town, where the main road had previopusly passed close to the old town walls. The A487 was renumbered as the A4871 when the towns more distant bypass was opened, so it is now the A4871 which is carried over the roundabout on a flyover structure, which still looks somewhat out of place in the town. The bridge carries a wide two way road, with single lane sliproads connecting to the roundabout below. The A4086 comes in from the east, and a short stub continues west into the town centre along Penllyn which is one way westbound. A fifth arm also heads west, and primarily provides access to a multi storey car park situated just a few yards away.
A little to the south of the junction, just as the sliproads meet the mainline, the A4871 splits to navigate around a triangular gyratory. At the eastern apex of this, the A4085 heads east to Beddgelert at a simple T junction, but traffic heading north on the A4871 has to navigate the roundabout to double back and join the A4085.
