Ealing Bridge crosses Pincey Brook on the B183 between Harlow and Sheering, Essex.
The name of the bridge features on the 1958 1:25000 OS map as well as being referenced in the London Gazette in 1926[1].
There has been a crossing on the site since c.1044, and the bridge was formerly known as Gildene Bridge[2] (also Gildenebrigge, meaning ‘guildsmen’s bridge’[3].
The bridge is narrow, carrying two traffic lanes but no pedestrian pavement; traffic is separated from the river by use of horizontal metal guardrails supported by concrete posts.
