East Ayrshire Council is the Highway Authority for all the roads in the eastern portion of the historic County of Ayrshire, except the A76, part of the A77 and M77, which are managed by Transport Scotland. As of 2016, Government Statistics say that the council is responsible for 88 miles of A roads; 120.3 miles of B roads and 584.1 miles of other roads. There is an additional 29.2 miles of Trunk roads and 6.6 miles of Motorway within the council area, which are maintained by Transport Scotland.
