The Faslane Roundabout lies on the A814 at the southern end of the Garelochhead Bypass. It was built as part of the new access route to Faslane Port and the Clyde Submarine Base, taking traffic away from either Helensburgh or Garelochhead. This can be seen on the ground, where the central island has a roadway cut through it to allow vehicles direct access from the bypass into Faslane without having to negotiate the roundabout. This is blocked by barriers, but presumably opened for oversize lorries.
The old A814 north of the roundabout, through Garelochhead to the Whistlefield Roundabout at the northern end of the bypass is now the B872.
