To use France's generally excellent motorways you literally pay a heavy price - which is sadly not reduced in the rain! Near here a relatively new link road to Saarbruecken (French: Sarrebruck) has eased traffic flow somewhat. I chose, in fact, to get to Germany via Haguenau.
