Description:A1013 Lodge Lane (old A13)

Junction of Lodge Lane with Southend Road, Grays. Before the A13 bypass for Grays opened in 1982, the old A13 used what is now unclassified Lodge Lane west of this junction, and the brief dual section of A1013 between here and Daneholes junction. Southend Road, heading south to my right, and now A1013, was most probably the *original* A13, before the S2 Arterial Road linking Purfleet (London Road) and Grays (Lodge Lane) was built in the 1920s. Arterial Road is now part of the A1306 heading to Dagenham.
