Description:A LVIII?

Most sources refer to these well preserved cobbles as being of Roman origin. The jury's still out, but the evidence is pointing towards the road being medieval at the earliest, possibly Roman underneath, and possibly that was based on a pre-historic route. There's a reference to a complaint over state of road being made in 1286 and of repairs completed to this bit of road. The area was known as Blacksteynegge back then. The A58 is just the most recent way over the ridge.
