Description:Buses in Redhill Road, Cobham (C) David Kemp
The two buses nearest the photographer are within the gridsquare. The green bus is the preserved RT3491, an AEC Regent III which was in service with London Transport between 1952-73 and is now in LT's Green Line livery. It is kept by the London Bus Preservation Trust whose Cobham Museum is currently situated on the opposite side of the road. The red bus was originally an RMA-class Routemaster once used by BEA for its service between the West London Air Terminal and Heathrow. Such vehicles hauled a luggage trailer, hence the tow-bar connection at the rear. Since then the vehicle has had its length extended and its staircase moved from behind the driver's cab to the centre. It is now owned by Shaftesbury & District Motor Services and has been re-numbered RME1. The photograph was taken on the occasion of the LBPT's Spring Gathering held at the Museum and elsewhere.
