Description:Old GEC lantern on residential concrete streetlight, Poole Dorset

Once they were the lantern of choice for all side road streetlights throughout Poole. They were superseded in the 1980's by the Thorn Beta 79. Though there are still a few of these scattered around the area. Most of these emit a blueish white glow (mercury vapour) but some instead have a pinkish glow (SON) the same as the others.
