Description:Traffic diversion, Loughbrickland (1980) The Loughbrickland bypass opened in 1978. The practice, then, was for a new road to receive a second and final surface about two years after opening. The northbound carriageway was closed for that purpose with traffic diverted through the village. The gap, in the central reservation (middle right). was subsequently replaced by an underpass/flyover.
