Fingle Glen is junction on the A30 near Exeter in Devon. It is one of the few remaining at-grade junctions left on the expressway standard sections of the A30 through Devon and Cornwall. The junction was created as part of the Exeter to Okehampton improvements in 1978, which bypassed the existing A30 to the south.

Original proposals from 1972

However, the original proposal in the early 1970s was for a GSJ. Orders were made for this scheme in 1972 along with GSJ's for the nearby Woodleigh Junction and Whiddon Down Junction but all three junctions were built at-grade. These two other junctions were eventually upgraded in 2001 and 2006 but Fingle Glen has remained in its original form.

Improvement proposals

It was proposed in 2003 that a nearby bridge to the east be used to accommodate movements to and from the westbound carriageway, this bridge had been built with the intention that it would later be used to add slip roads to this junction, however many objections were received to this plan.

2007 closure

The gap in the central reservation was closed from 18th October 2007 using a temporary traffic order on safety grounds without further improvement. It was intended that traffic wishing to make this movement would do so via the Woodleigh Junction to the west. The gap reopened on 9th April 2009 following a public inquiry and the expiry of the temporary traffic order.
