Fontwell East Roundabout was created in 1989 with the Fontwell Bypass along the A27. Here the A29 joins the A27 and runs in duplex with with for a 1/3 mile along the bypass.
The junction is built on the old London Road, and the 'bypass' to the west of here uses part of that old road too. The road to the east is a new alignment, but quickly rejoins the old Arundel Road.
