A1 A406 Proposed Junction Improvements
The A1 / A406 junction as seen on a 1995 A to Z London map was to be improved (by I believe) a flyover & side roads. Unfortunately, it was transferred to TfL and subsequently shelved.

A1 Angel of the North at Gateshead
I took this picture to show the mistake on the sign but I think it's a good picture of the A1 too

A1 Great North Road at Bramham
taken May 19th, this shows the new carriageway surface on lanes 1 and 2, which is probably part of the upcoming works at Wetherby just a few miles north.
Perhaps lane 3 will be resurfaced soon, as the cones are still there, but for now it makes a symmetrical pattern!

Great North Road dualling
This pic taken in the 1950s (not by me!) shows the dualling under construction at the far right of the pic. The building is the well known Ram Jam Inn.

Old A1 sign
Although this is now the A1167 just outside of Berwick it seems they forgot to change this sign now looking a little tattered.
