A blue patch for the old A102(M) has been greened out in recent years. The this section of new A12 opened in August 1999. The old S2 A12 linking Green Man with Wanstead (Cambridge Park) is shown as unclassified on some maps, though A-Z reckon it's now A106.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Dec 25, 2005 by Sunil_of_YoxleyBuilt as the A102, this section was never under motorway restrictions. The picture is taken looking south at the diverge for the A13 junction - the last exit point before the Blackwall Tunnel. Notice th restriction sign for the tunnel - no cycling, a height restriction and various other things you cannot take through.
The road becomes the A102 as it passes under the A13 bridge just to the south of this location.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Mar 29, 2005 by M4SimonThis is how to make the A12/A130/A1114 junction to the south of Chelmsford into a freeflow. Firstly there's no need for access between the A1114 and A12 North since there's junctions just off the northern edge of the map that caters for these movements. The old A130 at the western end of Howe Green is stopped up and access to the A roads would be via a GSJ on the A130 about a mile to the south, this is due to a fifth entry to the junction causing further complications.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jan 23, 2007 by Sunil_of_YoxleyApproach to the junction with the A1124, Unfortunately, we turned off here to go to the zoo, so the Colchester to Ipswich section will have to wait for another day (or another SABRISTI!)...

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Sep 21, 2006 by Sunil_of_YoxleyThis could have come out a bit better, but the A12 Totsos here with A127 traffic for Southend flying over the junction to head due east. The flyover was obviously a temporary structure, being only S2 and quite bumpy! The A127 Southend Arterial Road and the A12 Eastern Avenue west of here were built at about the same time (1920s or thereabout). To the left we are just about to pick up the original roman route from Colchester to London, while to the right the original route and former A12 heads southwest towards Romford as the A118 Main Road.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Sep 02, 2006 by Sunil_of_YoxleyZoom-in on the western portal of George Green tunnel, from Blake Hall Road. The A12 works left the Green almost untouched after mass protests, but an old oak tree had to be cut down!

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Sep 23, 2006 by Sunil_of_YoxleyJunction with A1124 (near Stanway), a roundabout above the mainline. Here is the exit for the A1124 heading NW, towards Halstead. There is a very brief dual section then single. Once upon a time this was the A604 all the way to Cambridge, Huntingdon and Kettering (though the section east of Huntingdon was once the old A132 for a time). Now the A1124 ends two miles or so west of Halstead, then it becomes A1017 as far as Haverhill, then a short stretch of A143, and then A1307 as far as Cambridge. The route west of there is now A14.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Sep 23, 2006 by Sunil_of_YoxleyDiverge at the A120 (west) junction, near Marks Tey. The A120 multiplexes with the A12 for several miles around Colchester. The A120 west of here towards Braintree is still awaiting upgrade to D2.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Sep 21, 2006 by Sunil_of_YoxleyThe A12 widens out to D3 after the diverge, and the Colchester Bypass section starts. Note footbridge up ahead.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Sep 21, 2006 by Sunil_of_YoxleyThe start of the Colchester Bypass, with the A120 overbridge ahead, though it multiplexes with the A12 for most of the A12 section of the bypass, and actually forms the NE part of the bypass. The original route through Marks Tey and Stanway is the B1408, effectively continuing the A120 line.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Sep 21, 2006 by Sunil_of_YoxleyThe A12 diverges slightly northeast of its original line, and multiplexes with the A120 north of Colchester.
