A137 Stoke Bridge

Taken from the southern end of Stoke Bridge in Ipswich. The bridge on the right with the stone arch is used to take a large amount of two way traffic, and so the new bridge and northbound carriageway was added in 1982.

The bridge is narrow and very low (10 feet I think. Note the lane markings giving priority to traffic using the level crossing. There is a lorry waiting to use the crossing - and for some reason Micra man has gone that way too - he is going tio have a long wait.

Taken from the other side - note that on this side the bridge traffic has priority. Quite a procession of high vehicles waiting now. (In the time between taking these photos, I had returned to my car, driven far enough away from the site to turn round, driven under the bridge, and parked up again. The gates had not risen in between the two trains. I bet Micra Man is wishing he'd used the bridge!).
