Blue House corner, Newcastle upon Tyne Taken about 1963 when the A1 still ran through the centre of Newcastle. The house behind the bus used to be occupied by a policeman and was (and I believe still is) always painted blue.

Kitty Brewster Bridge The Kitty Brewster Bridge carries the A189 over the River Blyth (seen at low tide). Beyond is a rail bridge, part of a network of railways built primarily to serve the collieries of south-east Northumberland, under the general name of the Blyth and Tyne railway. The line has been closed for passenger traffic for many years but still carries freight.
