Here's my second nomination - the other end of the A2! :-) The Dover end this time, and not my picture - it was submitted by Brenley Corner, but since it is summer and we're all heading off on our holidays, I thought a photo of Dover Docks, the ferries and not one but 2 major roads (A2 and A20) would be apt.

Taken on the unofficial Kent Roadtrip on 16 February 2007, with Tony (Brenley Corner) and Sarah (SarahJ). A good day, with this being one of the more unusual pics of the day, and a good test of my new camera.

The A20 heading down Wrotham Hill. This section was completely rebuilt with the construction of the M20. The roads run parallel here, the A20 is about 10 metres above the motorway which is just below us on the right - hence the double crash barrier. Taken 23rd May 2008.

Another Operation Stack. So, the A20 regains it's old status, as it has many times just recently. Old Little Chef on left, as the lamps indicate. A Happy Eater originally. Short D2 off the A252 rbt.

Opened April 12 1927, according to the Atlas Dating forum. A20 Roadhouse on left, which looks almost as old. Formerly called the Rose Of Tralee Cafe then, the Little Chest.

The Lenham bypass does the job it was built for, in one direction at least. May have been an S3 originally.

Almost all of the A20 from Maidstone to Ashford shows signs of improvements from many years ago. This is one of several old road laybys.

Looking south to the start of a D2 leading in to Ashford and, J9. This and the very short one at Charing rbt, are the only ones not reduced to D1 by KCC, since they got their mitts on it in 1991.

Trials of a new anti-car scheme have been successful and, will be rolled out nationwide. Cars will be banned from all motorways, which will be for lorries only. Jealous drivers look down to the M20.

Clue in the sign. The old A20 on the left can never have seen heavy traffic as we know it, the bypass having opened in 1927.
