We have gained a town sorry its not Frimley as originally directed by the years old temporay sign. we now have Farnborough and A325 in brackets Dont get to excited, as the flag sign on posted just under this says Farnham A325
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jun 29, 2007 by SnowmanThis is a temporay (well its been there over 7 years) sign on the Meadows Roundabout from the direction of Sandhurst and Bracknell. This is one confusing roundabout to drive around if you follow the signs. This shows Camb to the left, Frimley A331 (yes the road changes number as this is the A321) and M3 straight on and Blackwater to the right oh also with the A30

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on May 07, 2007 by SteveA30Moving west to beyond Basingstoke, this is the multiplex with the A33, just before they separate again. M3 is glimpsed in the gap in the trees on left, at J8
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jun 05, 2007 by SteveA30Approaching the parting of the ways. Note the long right turn lane, provided in a 1960's improvement.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jun 05, 2007 by SteveA30The long right turn lane was an attempt to ease congestion, as queues for turning traffic were a major problem here.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jun 05, 2007 by SteveA30This is the point where you felt you really were on the road to the west, having parted from the Southampton traffic. The sign reflects the original set up, whereby the A303 didn't start at the M3 but, further down at Micheldever rbt.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jan 15, 2010 by SteveA30The queues were so long that many were leaving at the previous junction at Woodleigh, only to meet up here.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Sep 12, 2009 by SteveA30The diversion via the at grade junction. At Pocombe, there was a stream of cars coming down the B3212 from Moretonhampstead, having left the A30 at Whiddon Down, via the A382, such was the length of the tailback on here.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 28, 2009 by SteveA30A short D2 that gets missed out on maps, approaching the A339 rbt down the hill.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 28, 2009 by SteveA30Approaching the rbt with the former pub in the middle, where the A325 starts. The A30 was freeflow in both directions in pre M3 days but now naturally, it has lights. Lower and upper left w/bnd and, upper right e/bnd. These cause huge peak hour queues in all directions.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 25, 2009 by SteveA30Outskirts of Camberley. The whole route from Egham is very leafy and shady.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 25, 2009 by SteveA30The point where the trees end and Camberley proper begins. The lights pre-date the M3, one of 3 sets in the old days, a major bottleneck then. Now there are 6, a major bottleneck now.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 25, 2009 by SteveA30Approaching another set of pre-M3 lights. It used to have 2 lanes on the opposite side, away from the lights. The road beyond the lights was S4 so, plenty of overtaking chances, within a 40 limit. A major widening obviously happened at some point here. There used to be a footbridge here but, it was removed after the M3 opened. I spent happy hours on it breathing in that heady aroma of diesel and lead.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 22, 2009 by SteveA30Approaching Sunningdale Sta. The level crossing caused long tailbacks in (T) days. The short bit of 60's dualling allowed for passing of lorries and caravans, after the gates opened.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 22, 2009 by SteveA30From the lights, a section that was dualled in the 60's to try and ease flows.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 25, 2009 by SteveA30This untouched stretch is how most of it was from Egham to Camberley, wide S2.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 22, 2009 by SteveA30Egham bypass, dualled in the mid 60's. Not as rural as it looks.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 20, 2009 by SteveA30Nearing the end of the bypass. I may be the only person who goes home from Heathrow, on the old route, which I did as far as J6 A339.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 20, 2009 by SteveA30Looking east near Launceston, at the A388 junction to the left and, B3254 to the right. Construction of the bypass commenced that summer. It was online through here.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on May 19, 2009 by SteveA30Standing roughly in the same area, the old A30 more or less followed the off-slip here and then, the on-slip opposite. The corner of the crossroads is about the only point of reference in the two. The D2 is up on the right, soaring over the lot.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Apr 01, 2009 by SteveA30No, she went of her own accord. Er, anyway, holiday traffic trundles homewards at Bolventor.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Mar 25, 2009 by SteveA30Exit 2 on the long route to London. Or Exit 400 if coming the other way. This is the turn for the coast road which is amazing all the way around to St Ives
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Mar 25, 2009 by snowman is backOnly 6 miles to Bodmin. The 35 before it went too quick.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Mar 25, 2009 by snowman is backnearing the end now, not sure which exit this was now.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Mar 25, 2009 by snowman is backComing to the end of the new bit. (sorry camera packed up) and its take a fraction of the time than it use to. Getting in and out of Cornwall is a lot easier.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Mar 25, 2009 by snowman is backA39 junction. This is where the jams would start. This use to go from dual to single in no time at all and take a good hour to get through it. Now the road is built its so much easier
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Mar 25, 2009 by snowman is backThe new bit, by now and after about half an hour from the Newquay turn off, it would be single carrage with a nice view of the car in front
