On what was the old route of the A303 looking west near to what is now the Deptford interchange with the A36..This old part of the A303 is very difficult to access due to the fact you can only reach it from Yarnbury castle..You will nead a mountan bike..

Taken from 1982 Collins Atlas of Britain. Part of the M3 shown as under construction to Winchester, and the middle bit of the M27. The remodelling of the A33 to M3 was to come much later.
