Ilchester, Nov 18 2008
A car transporter shed its load of brand new cars on the w/bnd A303 at about 7am. By 10, I was there in Ilchester for the diversion. This is the former A37/A303 junction, now mainline from old A303 to old A37 on the right.

Looking east, where the 2 roads separated. The old A37 went up the dead end road, Fosse Way, now cut off by the bypass near Podimore. The B3151, which takes all 3 arms now, heads around the bend to Street.

Old A37 from the northern end looking towards Ilchester. This was a Roman road but theres none left as they all went home. Cars came this way until around 1976 when the A303 Podimore bypass opened..
