Batheaston bypass, heading north. The A4 leaves via the off-slips, to enter Bath. The A46 comes down the on-slips beyond the bridges.

Heading west between Corsham and Box, an almost continuous descent all the way to near Bathampton. Sept 8 2009. Box rly. tunnel is underneath to the left somewhere and, comes out into the valley beyond.

Late on Saturday night April 16 1960, the Ford Consul taxi returning Eddie Cochran to London Airport at the end of a British tour, hit a streetlight in Chippenham. Eddy died and, Gene Vincent was injured. The taxi driver got 6 months and a 15 year ban.

Looking west to the last few yards of Eddie's life. He was thrown through the windscreen. So, the questions are, was the bus stop layby there then? Is the plaque on the exact spot of the lamp or, is it where the modern one is?

Which was his next single release. Looking towards London. His guitar was carried to the taxi at the Bristol Hippodrome, by a young fan called Marc Feld, later Marc Bolan, who, would die in a car driven by someone else, which hit a tree. Spooky!

The A4 runs along the Paragon, Roman Road in Bath, where the pavements are several feet higher than the roadway in places. The parking bays have since been removed from here.
