The bridge over the River Trent was reconstructed in 1947.

Northbound along B4373 Wombridge Way, Telford. This road was formerly part of A518, and is solely the planned southbound carriageway of a dual.

Oxbow road on the A518

Where the A518 meets the A513, this would be the original alignment before the roundabout was put in. Over the past two years I've driven past it hundreds of times, but I only noticed it whilst cycling past.

A518 Lilleshall

This is a stretch of A518 that was bypassed in the early 90's. This and the next picture were taken at Christmas 1998 but the road remains in good condition. This is looking south near Cheswell Drive.

Six options for Trench Lock Interchange from 1972. The top left layout was the recommended option in the report and the junction as built closely resembles this even though it has two roundabouts. The bottom left layout lacks south facing slip roads. Whether this is intentional or a mapping error isn't clear.

A518 in Stafford, just outside Tesco. Seen here is a large shoe geared Philips MA60 lantern. There used to be many of these same lanterns on most of the A roads around the town, until just a few of years ago, when they replaced a lot of the old columns and installed new Holophane V-Max lanterns instead.
