Wide enough to span a dual-carriageway
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jul 26, 2007 by leopard680I'd guess this was an old roadhouse from the days when this was the A8. Now a handy stop for those in need of a pie or a tasty Greggs Steak-Bake!

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jul 26, 2007 by leopard680Heading east towards Newbridge, the wide alignment, former S3 layout, and a GATSO are all evident

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jul 26, 2007 by leopard680The Hospital has been closed for many years now, but the sign remains. Architecturally the Hospital is very interesting, consisting of several Victorian buildings scattered around a large field. It would be worth exploring in its own right. There's a boom across the entrance, but I did see someone stop and open it and drive in, but at first glance there doesn;t seem to be anything preventing pedestrians going in.

The patched cats' eyes are clearly visible
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jul 26, 2007 by leopard680Bangour Hospital has been closed for many years now, so the weeds have grown and the the bridge has a derelict look about it. It was obviously built when there was a regular flow of staff and visitors boarding & alighting buses that travelled along the A8 between Edinburgh, Bathgate & Glasgow.

This overbridge was to serve the westbound bus stop when the days when Bangour Cottage Hospital was still open. The M8 is behind and above the trees on the right. Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Jul 26, 2007 by leopard680
The footbridge was removed between October 2008 and June 2009. C2r
Again the wide alignment is clearly evident
