Old A303 in Andover this road was bypassed in 1969 .The bridge over the old road is called Ladies walk. Who remembers lorries climbing up this hill towards London

From a trunk road to a track this is the old route of the A303 looking east from Andover to London .The old turning to Picket twenty would until 1969 be coming up on the left.

Old A303 at Andover. This was until 1969 the main route out of town heading east it is still known as Micheldever road.

A303 that was, with the old turning for Picket Twenty, note you can still make out the old wight lines.

The old route of the A303 met the A342 at Weyhill near Andover on a T junction then a few yards to the right of the picture a roundabout was built in the late 70s .

Old Micheldever road .Looking east towards Basingstoke on the old route of the A303 abandoned in 1969.Today the old road serves a couple of houses and there is a gate across part of it with a sign saying Private Keep out so a detour through the hedge is necessary to avoid any conflict with the locals.

Relief for Andover, the first major A303 bypass and also, part of Basingstoke. None of the A339 junctions were GSJ at this stage.
