Launched recently in London are these "countdown" signals which count off the last 12 seconds before the 'Red man' phase. These are the first, installed at the junction of Blackfriars Road and The Cut (A201/B300), outside Southwark tube station, and were photographed on the day they started operation, June 21st 2010.
A serendipitous find, as I only learned of their existence from the Evening Standard I was reading on the bus on the way to .......Southwark station.
Corner of Blackfriars Road and The Cut, SE1 Showing Southwark Underground Station (this entrance is about 150 metres from the logo on the OS map). The railway bridge behind has no connection with the station here, it is an overground line out of Charing Cross.
