Kenyon Way.png
A579 extension from Atherleigh Way to Winwick Lane (bypassing Lane Head) to better link Leigh and Atherton with the M6 and Warrington. Additionally improves links between Culcheth & Croft and the East Lancs & Leigh. Could potentially be named Winwick Way, or Kenyon Way (in respect to the village it's bringing main road traffic to). Features a rare GSJ over the East Lancs (I think a dogbone would fit), plus two roundabouts and two traffic light junctions in and around Kenyon village. Takes advantage of existing roads that could naturally chain together (Main Lane, Kenyon Lane, Wilton Lane).
A579 dogbone.jpg
A rare dogbone grade separated interchange on the East Lancs (A580), connecting Atherleigh Way (A579) and my proposed A579 link directly down to the Winwick Interchange (M6 J22). Would keep the A579 from ever multiplexing the East Lancs and A572. {I'd also suggest changing the Winwick Link Road to be numbered A579, and signed on the M6 with '(A49)'.}
