Old Cuthill Bridge near Addiewell - Geograph - 6595537.jpg
Old Cuthill Bridge near Addiewell The picture was taken from underneath the current Cuthill Bridge, completed in 1939, as the old one was no longer fit for purpose, being too small to carry increasing volumes of traffic. The approaches to it were also far steeper, leading to some accidents. It can still be seen from looking over the railings on the West side of the newer bridge - still intact but crumbling, with only a small section of wall remaining. It was named as Addiewell Bridge on older maps, but Cuthill Bridge on later ones. There are a number of pictures showing the construction of the current bridge online.
