The Barnstaple bypass under construction next to the railway station. Taken from the A3125 bridge.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 21, 2005 by DavidBrownWe haven't had a bridge for a couple of months, so why not have one under construction, just for a change?! Taken from the north Bank of the Taw.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Nov 21, 2006 by DavidBrownPart of the Barnstaple Bypass involved changing the bottom of Old Stickepath Hill a dead end. When I was there back in December, the Give Way sign still stood (it still stood when I did that tour for BigToe in the latter part of January, but the yellow diversion sign did not!).
The bridge in the background is the Station Viaduct, bringing in the road from the new A39 roundabout to the roundabout (possibly going to be signalised) before the main bridge itself.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Mar 19, 2007 by DavidBrownSorry to tread on David's toes here, but I'm submitting another photo of the Barnstaple Downstream Bridge; taken from the other side of the Taw.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on May 23, 2007 by RichieGrahamAs it opens tomorrow, I'd thought I would nominate this photo of the bridge.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Sep 19, 2009 by DavidBrownThis picture taken part way through the 'offending' section shows that since the previous picture (taken on a bridge just behind), the posts have changed from being the red/white ones to being orange ones. A 'Queues Likely' sign can be seen mounted on the bridge, giving one wonder over what may happen during these likely queues and emergency vehicles...
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Dec 20, 2006 by RichieGrahamThis shows the beginning of the section, where the double-whites marking the edge change to the dashed with hazard posts. Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Dec 20, 2006 by RichieGraham
Since this photo was taken the bollards have been removed and the route was renumbered A361 with the opening of the Barnstaple Western BypassOpened by Councillor Brian Greenslade, 23rd May 2007. The cars on the bridge is the second lot to go through from the lights on the Sticklepath Junction 'squareabout'.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on May 23, 2007 by RichieGrahamTaken on the day of opening 23/05/07: Looking south from the Pottington side of the bridge. The old bridge (A3125) is visible on the left, as is the Tarka Trail to Braunton underneath.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on May 10, 2006 by DavidBrownA new car park VMS on the A3125 bypass link in Barnstaple. The sign is already in operation, despte the fact that the only people who can read it are the bypass construction vehicles!
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Feb 21, 2006 by DavidBrownAn odd sign warning of chicanes ahead in Barnstaple, Devon. Sorry about the poor picture quality.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Mar 30, 2006 by DavidBrownA mini roundabout sign in Barnstaple still exists, despit the fact that the junction was turned into a 'T-junction' last year!

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Feb 21, 2006 by DavidBrownThe link road to the Barnstaple bypass. The future course of the A3125 can be seen running along a new link road, via a large roundabout, before returning to the original A3125 at the top of Sticklepath Hill.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Feb 21, 2006 by DavidBrownA new link road to the Barnstaple bypass. The A3125 will be routed along here, with part of the existing road being demolished. Note how road markings have already been put on.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Feb 21, 2006 by DavidBrownThis River Yeo is one of four in Devon with the same name (that I am aware of). It starts near Berry Down and feeds into the Taw estuary at Barnstaple.
Taken on the day of opening 23/05/07: the Barnstaple Town Crier was situated on the crest of the bridge, ringing his bell and occasionally shouting the above comment.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on May 23, 2007 by RichieGrahamTaken on the day of opening 23/05/07: A little vague, but you can just about see the first batch of cars that went over the bridge; it was a police car... Unfortunately, I was too far away to get a decent shot of the first proper car.
Originally uploaded to Coppermine on May 23, 2007 by RichieGrahamThis will be part of the roundabout between the A3125 and the new bypass.
