Airborne over the London to Brighton railway - Geograph - 1873522.jpg
Airborne over the London to Brighton railway We have just taken off from Gatwick in the less usual easterly direction. This was the day before most European airspace was closed for six days due to an ash cloud caused by a volcanic eruption in Iceland. To the south can be seen the Gatwick sewage works, the London to Brighton railway line and the A23 as it bends around the airport.
