'Das gruene Ampelmaennchen', or 'the wee traffic light man', was different in East Germany from in the West. Attempts to change him to a western-style version have been so strongly resisted, that indeed some Western states (e.g. the Saar) have adopted him!

The main line comes in from the bottom right and heads off to the left. Straight on for Stuttgart and the A8, right for Dacchau and the A99

Entering Germany, the full border check is carried out on the German side (even by the Czechs). This is due to be bypassed by a motorway in the relatively near future, although the very name 'Altenberg' indicates it will be some feat of engineering (indeed it is planned to be well to the east of here).

The 'Peace Bridge' is in fact more dramatic than seen here, along the B27, a fairly major cross-country route which, here at least, is basically motorway standard.
