Turn-off for the A1124, once upon a time the A604 and even earlier the old A132.

The A130 used to head through central Chelmsford, but multiplexes with the A12 for a couple of miles. The route into Chelmsford is now A1114 and A1060. The route south now follows the D2M Rettendon Bypass, with hard-shoulders.

Originally uploaded to Coppermine on Sep 07, 2006 by Sunil_of_YoxleyPenultimate junction on the bypass is for the eastern end of the A414 towards Maldon, non-primary here and I think pointlessly renumbered from the old A122 (which has disappeared since the 1980s!). The section into Chelmsford is now A1060, so the A12 actually multiplexes with the A414 three-quarters the way round the bypass!

This is how to make the A12/A130/A1114 junction to the south of Chelmsford into a freeflow. Firstly there's no need for access between the A1114 and A12 North since there's junctions just off the northern edge of the map that caters for these movements. The old A130 at the western end of Howe Green is stopped up and access to the A roads would be via a GSJ on the A130 about a mile to the south, this is due to a fifth entry to the junction causing further complications.
