Dayburning Gamma 6 in fire station
Thanet's fire station is lit with Gamma 6s, which look to run on mercury judging by this dayburner. Margate Road in the foreground used to be lit with lots of GR150s, but they were all sadly replaced with P678s when the new Westwood Cross Shopping Centre just opposite was built!

Dayburning GEC Z5678
This (and some others behind) Z5678 is dayburning. I'm glad it was too to be honest, as that's how I knew these were Z5678s (the SOX version).

Philips MI50 on a CU concrete
This installation is also a loner on the road - it's a Philips MI50 installed on a CU concrete column. The concrete looks quite pale, so this column could be fairly new, probably dating from the mid-late 1980s. Just a shame the lantern is dayburning!

Dayburning Prefects in Dudley
Here are two dayburning Revo Prefects which is normally an indication of imminent replacement as the old lanterns are usually not maintained when due for replacement. The swanneck bracket has seen better days as a huge amount of tape has been applied to contain the spalling.

Dayburning MA90 on Stanton concrete
The next lantern up from the retrofitted Arc is this dayburning MA90 on a Stanton concrete column. The lantern looks fantastic installed on this type of concrete bracket and really complements its shape! Having said that, I think the Arc also looks great on these installations!

A closer shot
A closer shot of one of the previous images reveals a P567 retrofit, which is also being replaced, two further Z8896s being replaced on the left, and an SGS101 retrofit at the end of the street, which is NOT due for replacement! TDC really can't seem to make up their minds about the casual replacements!
UPDATE: Both the dayburner in the foreground and the SGS101 have now been replaced. But why didn't the council just install the new column at the same time as the others? Surely it would've made their job a lot easier!

Modern Lights (1)
The whole of the riverside road industrial park (through roads) are lit with these odd lanterns/column arrangement. The column is straight with a point at the top, and the lantern has some decoration (aswell as the bracket)

Dayburning MA50 on College Road
The one-way College Road gyratory system is lit with MA50s on standard steel columns. Not particularly exciting, I know, but roads lit with SOX in such a large amount is almost extinct on the Thanet now. Unfortunately, this example is dayburning, meaning that a new Arc may be on its way soon!

Dayburning GR550 on Woodford Court
This GR550's body clock must be totally wrong (in this case literally!) as it is dayburning at around 4'o'clock in the afternoon. The lantern, so I'm told, comes on at 3pm and switches off around midnight! I can't see any photocells on these lanterns, but I have seen the base of one opened with a time clock in it, which obviously shows they are timer-controlled!

Here's another MA50 (albeit dayburning) on the on-slip for the M25 from the A1306.

Remote geared MA50 (small shoe) on S&L column on Canterbury Road
This remote geared MA50 (small shoe) on this S&L column is a loner on this stretch of road, as the stretch is mostly lit by SGS203s. Unfortunately, however, it has become yet another victim of dayburning, meaning that replacement could be imminent!

Day-burners outside of the Santander bank, along Victoria Street in Crewe town centre.
Urbis ZX3 lighting and dayburning Holophane Module 600 lantern. The Holophane one is a lantern I didn't know the title of until very recently. They're the same as those that are normally wall lighting. This is a on car-park in Rugeley town centre.
Modern city centre style street lights in Birmingham, along with this unusual day-burning high-mast lighting column. The lantern in the foreground I believe is a Candela Portsmouth.
Day-burning LED lantern along Broad Street, Birmingham. Candela Portsmouth lanterns I believe.
Day-burning GEC Turtle lantern with mercury lamp at Kidderminster station, photographed back in September of 2018. Sadly all of the lighting here is to be removed and renewed soon (if not done so already) from what Ive heard, as the station is being redeveloped apparently.
Day-burning Urbis Furyo lanterns, with the odd few Urbis Evolo and ZX2 casual replacements, in the city of London finance district. The main lanterns must be group switched, where as the casual replacements have cells, which is why not all are day-burning as you can see.

Day-burning Urbis Albany lanterns along School Street in Wolverhampton city centre.
New street lighting being installed for the Blackpool tram extension along Talbot Road.
The lanterns seen here are Philips CitySoul and Holophane Denver Pole. These have been like this now since around 2014/15. Clearly not very well planned and thought out.

Looking from further away. Day-burning Urbis Stratos lanterns at Kidderminster train station car-park. Although the station is being redeveloped these haven't been removed or replaced yet, so don't know if they still will any time soon.

Along the Birmingham New Road in the south of Wolverhampton. Here is a day-burning Philips Luma and an older column being replaced. The new lantern is post-top and a Philips Digistreet, which is also LED just like the Luma. The other older lanterns in the background are Philips Traffic-Visions (SON/HPS), which is what the Luma replaced a few years ago.
Lye, between Stourbridge and Halesowen. Sleeved concrete columns with GEC Turtles. Unfortunately their days are numbered as they are due to be replaced, once the road works are finished.
Day-burning 2-chevron Holophane V-Max, which are LED, outside Birmingham Airport train station. The previous and original lanterns for these columns were Holophane QSMs.
Day-burning Philips MA50 on old rusty column, probably been there since the 1970s at least. I think this is along a road that was originally the A41, before the dual carriageway was built.
Rusty old columns with Philips MA50s, with one of the lanterns day-burning. These street lights have probably been here since the 1970s, and I believe this is along the original A41.

Day-burning fluorescent lantern, WRTL Iris, in South Staffordshire. Some days its doing this, and then other days it isn't.
Older 12m columns along the A5 in Brownhills. Over a decade ago these had Philips MA60 (SOX/LPS) lanterns, then some of them were replaced for Holophane V-Max (LED) around 2016. Strangely since then some of the V-Max have now been replaced again for lanterns like Urbis ZX3s (SON/HPS). Some of the lanterns are day-burning as well.
