Duchess Bridge, AlnmouthOriginally uploaded to Coppermine on Aug 25, 2009 by Capsulk
Duchess Bridge This bridge was built in 1864 with the coming of the railway to the area, to provide a more direct link from the town. Previously the lowest crossing point of the River Aln was at Lesbury, making Alnmouth a very isolated location. The bridge was largely paid for by Eleanor, 4th Duchess of Northumberland.
