The main engineering feature of the Fermoy bypass is the 450-metre span of the Blackwater viaduct. Here it is, heading southbound.

The M8's only intermediate junction (for southbound traffic) is south of Fermoy town, and provides access to Fermoy and Rathcormac. It's numbered J15, the first such junction to be numbered on the N8.

Munster Blackwater in Fermoy This bridge carried the Dublin-Cork road until the M8 bypass (tolled) opened in October 2006. The pic was taken in June 2006, so the traffic is mighty!
