The Llanelltyd bypass was built because of the traffic bottleneck presented by the old Llanelltyd bridge. The A496, on the right, is the Barmouth road. Cader Idris forms the background.
The B4518 climbs away from the Bwlch-y-gle dam - the end of the wall can be seen on the right. There is a carpark on the left.
Heading west towards Machynlleth from the Bwlch-y-gle dam which holds the side of the Llyn Clywedog reservoir.

An odd feature here is on the northbound carriageway - the inside lane has arrows on the carriageway ( and signs) indicating moving into the outside lane to continue....this does seem inappropriate and the would be safer to have the outside lane merging into the inside one.

He was a poet, a local historian and also a highly successful building and civil engineering contractor. His most prominent achievement was the construction of the railway from Betws y Coed towards Blaenau Ffestiniog which includes this long viaduct that takes the railway from one side of the Lledr valley to the other.
